LATIN AMERICA WINS
2007 WORLD SERIES TITLE

The Latin America team from Maunabo, Puerto Rico, broke open a close game in the late innings to defeat the U.S. West team and win the 2007 Junior Softball World Series.

Nemesis Vega was the winning pitcher for the champions. Leading their hit parade were Kiara Nazario (2-for-4, double), Solalnge Sampol (3-for-5, double), Magdaly Arroyo (2-for-2), Diane Rivera (2-for-3) and Dayane Solivan (2-for-4).

The West team, Westchester-Del Rey Little League in Westchester, Calif., was led by Megan Baquet, who went 2-for-4.

Both Latin America and the U.S. West finished second in their respective pools during Pool Play but knocked off the first-place pool teams to advance to the final.

The game was broadcast live on the ESPNU network and later rebroadcast on ESPN2.

The U.S. South team edged U.S. East, 1-0, to earn third place.
